Maintenance and Servicing / Re: Timing chain tensioner defective

I was looking at the manual last night and one thing that BMW did right with this new engine is that the timing chain can be change without taking the engine apart (f800gs). It can be replace by removing the water pump. The first generations of F800GS had problem with the timing chain and tensioner, repeat????

At my dealership they use Motul only, so I most not have any warranty left? :430:

That was fast! How many km's on the bike? One my F2019 GSA, they changed all the exhaust shims. They told me that that they were all very close to the limit and if they change them now, I should be good for a very long time. The valves were checked at 25k km, I'm now at 27,5k km

I really hope that you are wrong :173:  I will pay way more attention for any noises coming from the engine next year. I've got a foot of snow(30cm) outside right with temperatures hovering around -20c at night, won't be riding for the next 3 months. :148: What year was your 750 and what year/model is you current bike? I ride a 2019 F850GSA with 27500km on it already and from what I can remember no strange noise yet?

If you need to change shim, in my case I did not do it myself but all exhaust needed new shims.

If you check the "Photo Gallery",  the photos look better. There is another part to replace the shims, if you need it let me know.

Thanks.
When I get the info, I will start the repair.
I will of course make my experiences here available for the other members, with pictures.
Unfortunately, my English is very limited.

Me also, I'm French Canadian!

Nice pictures.  Boy, that $$$$ seems high.  How many hours did the job take?  Imagine one has to remove radiator and all to check valves.

$344 for parts, $150 X 5hrs labor, $74 shop supply plus 15% tax
