Warm greetings from Calgary
« on: October 27, 2020, 08:14:17 PM »
So glad I found this forum - perusing thru the pages there is indeed a tremendous amount of distilled wisdom (and humor!) to be received.

Crazy weather here in Calgary - it was -23C on the way into the work the other morning and currently +12C here. (Speaking of which - I had better quit procrastinating and get the winter tires on my truck this afternoon)

I bought a 2019 f850gs this fall (after selling my 2012 f650gs) and cannot wait to ride in and around Calgary and the Shuswap again next summer!

Already counting down the days till spring...

Hi and welcome to the forum from North Wales.

Your low temperatures wouldn't see me getting out of bed in the morning. :190: :190: :190:
Is it safe to presume that you have snow or are expecting it very shortly?

Thanks for your note Dave!

Yes - we have had a good dump of snow already - fortunately it is melting with the warmer weather but it won't be long before the snow settles in and accumulates.

The Farmer's Almanac is predicting a very cold winter this year - we usually see lows in the -30 to -35C range but expect we will likely see -40C / -40F this year.

Don't feel too bad for us though - two very good things about Calgary are the chinooks and the significant amount of sunshine we get  :001:

Welcome from another Calgarian. I'm up in the north central part of town - Country Hills.

Maybe see you out on the roads and trails.  :062:

Thx MCMXCIVRS and Matty589 !

I am in the deep south - Lake Chaparral.

MCMXCIVRS - any recommendations for riding around YYC and southern AB?

Lots of good options out in K country and along the Forestry Trunk road. Everything from easy gravel to off road riding areas. Just get out and explore. Closer to the city are lots of good gravel routes. Those road signs that say no exit are often wrong, a lot of them are fun little two track roads so long as they are not muddy.

Sounds great - looking forward to exploring the trails and Maclean Creek  :305:

LaMorpionne - Merci! Je suis d’accord - avec le bon équipement, je vais descendre dans les chiffres simples (Dieu merci pour les poignées de main chauffée!) mais pas s’il ya de la neige ou de la glace sur les routes. Nous avons des motoneiges pour ça!  :190:
