I have reached out to the Monimoto team this evening and will let you know how I get on. Again, thanks so much for the detailed feedback. :046:

Well, Iíve just accidentally tested the monimoto. Just been to my garage to tidy up and decided to take my bike off the side stand and push it forward about 1m to make some room. I had left the Monimoto key in the house. The movement of the bike was enough to trigger an immediate alert telephone call to my mobile phone.

Are you using the MM5 (Europe version) or the MM6 (rest of the World)? The folks at Monimoto haven't replied to me yet, but if they do and (especially) if they offer a discount I will probably look at the MM6 because of the "Advanced 3G Positioning" [their words, not mine].

I have the MM6. I think the main difference compared to the MM5 is the addition of 3G.

When the alarm was triggered this afternoon I was moving my bike around in my garage which has a concrete roof  and thus there was no GPS signal. If I had backed it out into the courtyard, then a GPS signal would have been established at that stage.
Despite the fact that my bike did not leave the garage, the Monimoto warning  to my mobile phone nevertheless allowed me to determine the approximate location of the my bike on the basis of the cell location of the SIM card (3G). This is not as accurate as GPS, but will normally work where no GPS signal is receivable.

Well, that's disappointing. I've not heard a word back from these folks after sending my original message!

OK, well that's already more activity than I have seen using the previous messaging system. They have confirmed a new ticket, offered me the chance to create an account and marked the request as "processing". Admittedly this is probably an automated response at this stage. Let's see what happens.

Well, I think the final result here is that they are not interested. They deleted the message sent to support without even replying and there has been no communication whatsoever. That's a shame because, while I readily admit that they are in no way obliged to offer a discount, the lack of any form of communication - even if it was a simple "sorry, we don't offer discounts" is troubling.

That then makes me wonder about what would happen if I purchased their product and there was an issue. If this is my experience from my first attempt to communicate with them then it doesn't bode well. Mark, maybe they were better with you because they could see that you have a wealth of YouTube content and a platform more people listen to ?

I'll now rethink this one. Thanks again Mark for your attempt to help with this, much appreciated. Thanks to everyone else who commented.
