I picked one of these up yesterday, second hand but not used. What are the rubber bungs for?

Are the feet to go on the base to stop scratching? If not, on the side to give clearance from the side of the bike perhaps?

On my Givi rack, these mount to the rack as spacers against the top-box, to stop any slack in the mounting of the topbox - stops it rattling a lot.

I would imagine they do the same for all boxes fitting to racks.
