Tank cover repaint
« on: June 04, 2020, 10:33:38 PM »
Hi,

New to the forums, first post!
Lets start with a small modification I had done this week.
The black tank cover was repainted / color matched to its surroundings. What do you think about it?

I'm now looking for decals to fill the empty space with BMW racing colors =)

Hard to tell you would have to stand a bit further back to see the hole picture. There is a lot going on on the other panels so may need a bit of filling but that could only mean tank pad/ protector of some type.  Has potential.

Welcome to your first post! The painted tank cover looks good, it makes the bike look bigger. Will be interesting to see what it looks like when you've added the decals too. Keep us posted with pics of your modifications 👍🏻

Hi Jequ, welcome on forum!  :001:

Where exactly do you live in FInland?
Once on a motorcycle trip in Finland, the alternator was burned in my bike. It was around Oulu and I had to wait there days on camping, to repair that  :016:

I live in Oulu  :008:
Euro Motor Center is the local authorised BMW Motorrad dealer here and they've been easy to work with so far.

I had the battery replaced as it wouldn't maintain charge even after 2000km. ~1 min engine off and the TFT would warn about voltage being too low.

Also had problems with the BMW Connectivity bluetooth functions.
Phone calls didn't work at all. TFT screen got stuck at "call duration 1 second" after a phone call started and I couldn't hear the caller nor could they hear me.
TFT Software Update fixed the issue.
S/W Version was 001_015_060 when I bought the bike and EMC upgraded it to a newer version. (Can't remember the new version number, I will check it and edit it here later)

I wonder if you would get the same software versions as Australia. My last update changed my bike in a shuttle way.

Rubbatech makes some great looking tank protectors for the bike.

Ha, ha, awesome! What a coincidence!  :001:
During this breakdown, I repaired the motorcycle right there (Euro Motor Center). Because the alternator had to be brought from Germany, I spent three days at camping Nalllikari. Despite this accident and associated costs, I have a good memories from visit in this town. Overall it was a trip to Nordkapp and an amazing adventure  :002:

Below is a photo of a burnt alternator stator on this trip:

I wasn't able to edit my last post but here is the new S/W version corrected as I promised.

Hi,

Update: I slapped on most of the decals.
There are still 2 per side to put on, towards the front of the bike. I decided to cut and modify the remaining ones a little bit before putting on.

I'm happy with how these look like. cost was only ~30$  :008:
