I don't like my centre stand it's to hard so I put a 10mm plate under it and it lifted easier

19mm even easier

Check the clearances

That is just looking to smack your ankle

I can see why they put it there it's all to do with the panniers

So I pulled it out and cut a gap out a little over 1cm

It's the only place that works where both sides are evenly vertical

This type of mod crosses skill sets which I never learned Im just a Hack.  So Ved the mating sides deep so the weld penetrates the centre.

I put a tube inside that tube then tapped it home and welded the three together

The bridge between the foot leaver and stand has to come off

Check the cut angle and V it out over half. If your real careful bend it cut again but not as deep bend again and work your way out with the extra cuts and if your lucky it's a close seam.

Not yet

Bingo

Weld the bridge back on and check it for clearance

Sits firm on three feet

That is not as high off the ground as I planned and I know where I went wrong.

The pivot point is now near the middle so the height at the pivot point is multiplied out to the wheel at 1.5 or some such ratio.

Ho well I can live with that. I can put it up I can stand there and put it down then put it up and put it down if I did it ten times I would be bored.

Put weight on the rear of the bike and the front comes off the ground so it's functional.

Clean it up, paint you would never know

Now that I have used it for a bit I was thinking I could have done the same by just bringing the foot leaver in like I did but extending it 100mm or more. The extra leverage may be the same as shortening it. At some point it will and it would be interesting to know.

This is more than 50km into a dirt road ride with a 850.

Note the mud splatter on the swing arm and around the shock. You can see some is getting on the shock.

This is the one I made and it's doing its job.

The fork socks are keeping a little off the fork seals. Multiple that out over years and it's worth it.
