My head light cover arrived. I like the Velcro tape would prefer black

I think I messed up. It's sort of right but somehow doesn't work

I ordered the same tape in black and will see if I can do better

I took the Tioli pipe off again as it didn't sit right. Removed some wire and opened it up again and packed down an additional two strips of lagging. Now it supports the perforated tube quite well. Will make it a bit louder

After 200km all well.

I am so pleased with how that bike is progressing.

I am ready to make V2 and have this with parts coming.

With the drawing I can see that the diameter, length of the perforated tube, shape of enterince, positioning in pipe baffling before and aft will make a difference. Exactly how is yet to be seen.

I went for a camping weekend and needed to make a temporary pannier rack with a view to it being a possible solution.

It more or less kept the old panniers off the bike

Some cheep garden pipe and fittings, cable ties and tape

I learned what I need to know

It's all done with shape

Now I'm going to make the second version and I think it's going to go like this

So let's make it again

Some 300mm quality irrigation pipe

Screw it in cut off at 300 total 8cm slit up the middle

25mm diameter

4mm thick

4mm thick

When you cut with a hacksaw clean up the shavings

Heat the pipe slowly up the length of the slit

Line it up put in place and hold that bulge in till it cools

Could do with a touch up, we'll see how we go

Trim and shape the ends to open it up so you cam snap it back on

I don't know if this is necessary but trim the sharp edges as its not about blighting in position but shape

Take off the caps to the pannier mounts

Measure

Measure again

Check the angle, cut, heat, line up and jam it in that hole and hold steady till it sets.

That is where it wants to sit. If you brush the back of your finger across the front end it will come out and roll over to the side. The back has no intention of letting go.

Down ward pleasure locks it in proportionately to the downward force. If you held it down and bent it sideways one of them is going to breake  and that pipe is strong.

Again I don't know if necessary but dress a bit

Round off where the bag goes round

That round edge will hold the bag in that corner and downward force across the top will be shared at 3 points evenly

Sits squair

Big enough gap between pipe and bag

All up bags and rack $300

The bags are made of that type of bubberised plastic. If I hold it some tape both sides and it's fixed.

That's a 5L container 5 are supposed to fit in the pannia if I put 25kg in the bag how would it be supported?

At the top fine but the bottom would have to much sideways movement for a lot of weight so I have some plans to fix that.

All the straps are in the right place

I just polished my bike and it's easy to make a 750 outshine a 850
