Rear LED brake light
« on: March 25, 2020, 10:21:40 PM »
Coming home I get a warning rear brake light out, sure enough not working, at 1600 miles?? Look in book, has to be replaced as a unit. Anyone have info on this?

Should be under warranty... A good dealer would pull it off a a bike in the showroom if they did not have it in stock.
I don't know where we are... but I have been lost here before...

Well, turns out it's on me! Somewhere today I caught something and ripped the switch off the rear pedal, now to see what that will take!

Don't you use your front brake?

Of course, but brake light is not working off either.

Odd... One would think it would be individually wired and interrupted through the control module so it would be redundant in case of situations like this.

After your post this has me wondering too! But neither lever works brake light and the switch at rear pedal is definitely broke and disconnected. Your question is a good one, not sure at all.

If interested or have ideas, I uploaded 3 photos of location and the damage plug.

Kinda tough to find your images... I suggest making albums for each thing you want to post about.
I did find them and without going down to look at our bikes I would say a skid plate would have prevented this. The plastic one from the factory is minimal at best.
I don't have them on our bikes but we seldom go into areas where there are sticks, logs or rocks that could do that type of damage.
Granted this could happen on the street with the right debris on the road but if you are going to ride in the woods you need better protection for the bottom of the bike.
