First major service by dealer
« on: January 07, 2020, 11:57:30 PM »
Anyone had first major service completed by a dealership?  That would be the 20,000 Kilo or 12,000 mile mark.  How many labor hours were you charged? Assume valve gaps inspected, but was any adjustment necessary?

Hi Danno

Im not there yet but when it is time Im going to ask that the gaps are recorded and which ones have there shims changed to what.
That way I can make an assessment on the rate of wear for the time after.

It may only need a look over to check how much they have settled or it could be a wearing seat. Im tipping settling check?

If you could do the same we could build up a general picture of what they do going into the future. It would be very valuable information for us to share.

Just had my first major service done, a bit late at 25k but I do have oil changes every 10k or once a year. All my exhaust valves were out and needed new shims, cost $1300 Canadian dollars and included brake flush, filters, plugs etc...

I agree.

And great looking pics. BC/Alberta?
As for the fear of falling...learn to love and cherish the experience. You want it. You need it. You can't wait for the next hit.

Nice pictures.  Boy, that $$$$ seems high.  How many hours did the job take?  Imagine one has to remove radiator and all to check valves.

Ref the pics, the first one was taken in BC between Vernon and Lumby, second in my back yard, third southern Saskatchewan and fourth on the White Rim Road in Canyonlands National Park, Utah.
