Dominator link pipe.
« on: August 28, 2019, 11:33:01 AM »
Just spotted this on eBay. Nothing whatsoever to do with me, but I thought it may be of interest to others.
Described as a de-cat pipe, it isn't. It is the link pipe from the cat to the rear silencer that dispenses with the big heavy euro-box behind the swing arm pivot.
I have the same unit fitted to my bike and can testify to fit and quality.

If it aint broke, keep fixing it until it is!

Ordered directly from the site myself.   Order was six days ago, no new shipping notifications.   Does say on the site it may take 6 days for production.   I'll respond when it crosses the pond and gets installed, really looking forward to removing that boat anchor resonator and getting some sound through that muffler.

You won't regret it. Superb quality, pretty easy to fit, and great sound.

:435: Wait, so catalytic remains in place?  This just eliminates a resonator box (and the weight that goes with it) ?

The actual catalyst on these bikes is directly below the oil filter...
I don't know where we are... but I have been lost here before...

The Dominator one looks pretty shoddy imo especially with the clips for the heatshield.  A few more Pounds/Euros/Dollars gets the Remus version which is properly engineered and uses both fixing points to support the headers and cat.

Imo,  one mounting point would be sufficient given you're removing  a 3 - 3.5kg load from the mounting point. The 2 pin mount whilst very good, is most likely overkill. Even the 1 mounting pin would have a sheering strength of hundreds of kilograms. Understand your point on the shield clips. Dom were prob being cost considerate. I don't know the Remus equiv cost but would wager its more exp. I guess its just personal choice really.

I went back and forth between the Remus and the Dominator.   Agree that the heat shield tabs could've been welded, and may do that myself.   Don't believe the 2nd mounting point is even close to being needed.   Didn't like the extra pipe on the Remus, no idea why they didn't just streamline the exhaust instead of just more directly going to the muffler(that doesn't appear to be much of a muffler and more a simple, heavy silencer).   The Remus was over double the money for a simple pipe.
