Wired wheels cleaning tips.
« on: June 14, 2019, 06:38:23 PM »
After a week riding to work in heavy rain (welcome to the UKís summer folks!) my wire wheels are looking rather sorry for themselves.

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on the best way to clean them and what materials do you use.?

TIA 👍

I have a Rallye edition with the gold rims... The first 600 miles the goop that the factory installs as chain lube pretty much trashed them. I had to clean them after every ride...
I just tried Goo Gone which is a citrus based solvent. I ripped an old terry cloth towel into strips and squares... I used the squares to clean the rims and the strips to clean the spokes.
This leaves and oily residue on the wheels which I am hoping shields the rims and spokes from future build up.
I also cleaned the cast wheels on my wifes 750 with the same product. Her wheels are gray so they looked OK but close examination showed the same residue from the factory chain lube.

I don't know where we are... but I have been lost here before...

Thanks Dude, looks good stuff and yes your right about the white chain goo on the Gold wheels -yuk !

As this is a US product the P&P is almost as much as the product so Iíll wait until I visit the US next which Iím hoping to do in September.

Try Amazon UK I'm sure you will be able to get it. Leaving that crap on your wheels will stain them!

Just be careful where you spray it... I spray on a cloth and wipe as it is oily and I don't want to get it on my tires or brake rotors.
