Extended BMW Warranty Beyond the Initial 3yrs

The BMW manufacturer's 3 year extended warranty kicked in around August 2018 so I would expect that some owners have had an offer at this point to purchase the annual extended warranty and breakdown cover. i was wondering what the cost will be.

i normally haven't kept a bike more that 4 years and in the past I have purchased the extra year's cover. I am trying to decide at the moment whether I should change the car or the bike at 3yrs.

    thanks

Here at Portugal it can only be extended on the first 6months. I tried to extend mine when the bike was 2 years old, but the dealer said it can'tbe done.  :006:

Last time I enquired it was around £350-450 per year depending on the bike.

    Great Matty thanks for that.

i see it will still be expensive. It looks like it will be cheaper to put the extensions on the car.

You wouldn't have guessed would you, a £37k car with 50k miles would be cheaper than a £14k with 10k.

Or maybe you would have  :164: :001:

A few years ago I extended the warranty on a K1200GT, paid just over £400 a year for four years. I made a valid claim and they just would not pay out. BMW do not underwrite  the policy, it used to be Mondial, I do not know if they still do.
What I do now is put £400 in premium Bonds and if something needs repairing, it comes out of that fund.

Yes, itís a chain drive bike with a fairly simple engine and major components. The extended warranty wonít pay out when the suspension gets saggy so I really donít think itís worth it. Maybe a much more expensive bike like the K1600 might be worth it, but not these.
