850 GSA - Rubber inserts for the shark tooth footrests

The 850 GSA comes, as standard, with the shark tooth footrests. All very adventurous but they rip the hell out of the bottom of Daytona boots.

I had two rubber inserts from when I had my MegaMoto but BMW has changed the size of what otherwise looks like the same footrest. For some odd reason that I havenít got to the bottom of over the phone, BMW Battersea tell me that inserts are not available for the 850 GSA, only a complete replacement for the conventional 850 GS footrests. I smell a tiny rat but I could be wrong, I guess.

Has anyone sourced any rubber inserts for the 850 GSA shark tooth footrests?

Does anyone know if the physical footrest bit of the 850 GSA size is the same as the shark tooth footrest on the 1250 GSA? BMW tell me itís different but I suspect that might be nothing more than possibly the mounting?

In short, has anyone successfully put rubber inserts onto their 850 GSA shark tooth footrests? If so, how and from where did they source them?

    Thank you.

I don't have the solution for the BMW pegs I'm afraid but I sympathise with the problem.  I fitted Pivot Pegs to my 850 and they too eat Daytonas as snacks.

Fortunately it appears easy to get caps for the PPs...

    Thank you.

It seems that the only source is something from Cymark (UK).

That would appear to be the opinion prevailing in The Other Place...

Not rubber inserts but I put a set of Touratech works long distance pegs on my 750GS after BMW did a recall on the HP pegs, the dealer took them off my bike and gave me a pair of OEM crappy pegs instead. After some  back and forth they recognised that I had paid them £200 for the pegs they took off, so maybe they could refund me as theyíd effectively confiscated them! The TT pegs are grippy without damaging my boots, wider than stock and more comfortable (no vibes and 20mm lower). Just donít use the springs supplied, but use the OEM springs - took me 2 hours of swearing and frustration to work that out  :008:

i bought a set of pegs for each of my last two BMW 1200 gs bikes and they did two things that I liked.

    1. if you stood up on the begs and weight over 180 lbs the spring tensioned soft rubber pads would sink down and let the teeth protrude upward and dig into your foot box. This worked better than anything I've had as they were bigger than the stock skinny ones  and not as huge as the oversized off road only tooth tearing boot rippers.

    2. They also had the advantage of being able to be adjusted up and down on the base attachment by about 30 mm give or take. That was good for me as I am not too leggy but knees don't bend much either so makes that option served me well .. '''

Now I wish i'd taken them off prior to trading it in on the 750 because they would work just fine on it  well and the price is still 176.oo USD. EACH SO AFTER TAX  you just ripped through four Benjamins .  Well if you want to play you have to pay I guess. The bad news. I have been waiting for months for BMW to send my dealer parts like that. Took weeks and weeks FOR them months even  to finally get my adjustable windscreen and carrier unit from BMW after they indicated it was already stateside. Needless discounts are not even a consderation any more .

:THE THING I LOVED ABOUT THESE FOOTPEGS WAS THE PAD WAS HELD UP SLIGHTLY HIGHER THAN THE TEETH UNTIL YOU PUT YOUR WEIGHT ON THEM SO RIDING DOWN THE INTERSTATE IN CRUISE MODE THAT WERE NOT CONSTANTLY DIGGING INTO YOUR RUBBER BOOT
