Keefcambs- same thing happened to me. Battery could be charged, BMW charger read 100% and battery OK, next day you turn on the power and idiot lights but no TFT, battery was flat. My bike is just under 3 years old, has a tracker and due to COVID spent a lot of time on the trickle charger, so not so bad. I bought the same battery, £59 from my local Halfords. All good since. To be fair, 3 years from the stock battery under the circumstances isn’t all that bad, but I won’t trust what the BMW trickle charger says in future!

I too have had battery issues lately and after testing the battery with a multimeter under start load (8.1v) decided to look into a new battery. After a couple of hours research and not finding a match for the genuine battery I decided to buy the genuine article from my nearest dealer 300 ks away. $350 later my battery issues are gone but I thought someone must make a replacement for a better price. I found a Yuasa battery sold through Battery World in Australia is an exact match and at $200 a little easier on the hip pocket . The Yuasa battery is YTX12-BS.

Yes, same battery that I purchased and like you, no issues since. I do have to leave it on a trickle charger because the tracker drains the battery to flat in a couple of weeks and the tracker manual states that if the unit’s internal battery goes completely flat the entire unit may need to be replaced!
