Phone wonít sync contacts
« on: October 09, 2021, 06:08:23 AM »
I have an IPhone 12 Pro Max. It pairs with my 2021 F850GS just fine. Iím also using a Sena 20s Evo headset.

When I go to the phone section there isnít any information and I cannot make a phone call. I can receive them but thatís it.

Anyone know how to fix this?

My experience is with Android phones but probably same type of issue.

When I pair my phone, there comes up a message on the phone that ask for permission to access the phone book. So this is more than likely an issue that has to be resolved in the phone.

In case you missed the message, perhaps deleting all connections and starting over will be the easiest way to sort this out.

I agree with knutk, sounds like a permissions issue on your phone, you probably need to give it permission to access your data, namely your phone book.

Well I went out and after deleting the connection four times no change.

I allow the contacts and call lists to be synced but the TFT is still stuck on updating.   I checked my firmware and I have the latest 007 one.

Frustrating that I can receive calls but not make any.

Well wanted to give an update for anyone that may run into this same issue.

I emailed BMW about this issue and they were also stumped.  One thing they asked was if I had an emojis in the names of my contacts.  I donít but it got me thinking of something else, e-mails

I had several emails in my contacts.  I have no idea why IPhone did this but for some reason it saved several email address in my phone contacts.  Now to be clear these are email only. No names or phone numbers. They show up on my contacts list as an email.

Out of curiosity I went through my entire contact list and deleted every email entry before I went to sleep last night.  Just got home from work and went through a fresh setup of my phone and the TFT and BAM it works!!  Iím going to send BMW an email to let them know about this issue so if anyone in the future has the same problem.

Thank you to everyone who has helped with this issue.

D

Through my work I was allotted Apple products. But what I pay for are not from the 'Fruit company'.
Even so, both types  work, and they all have their pros and cons.

Anyway, thank you for the feed back. It's always nice to learn the solution when the issue has been sorted out  :046:
