Family Jewels Getting Crushed
« on: July 20, 2021, 04:06:01 PM »
I just did my first +500 mile day on my 2021 F850GSA. The seat was terrible at about the 80-mile mark. What's worse is the forward position puts me in a bit of a 'bind' if you know what I mean. I need a seat that sits higher and maybe even removes that right angle you see in the picture. I've read about the Sargent seats, but think they might be a bit wide for me. Any other suggestions? I was looking at the Rally Seat, but evidently it doesn't fit the 2021 model.

My two top requirements are:
1. It should sit higher than my stock seat (I'm 6'2" and want need more clearance)
2. It should be narrower or the same width as the stock seat.

I wish there was a seat with a higher front, just like many i end up pushing my "jewels" against the tank all the time. On top of that, the stock seats (both normal and comfort) would pinch my thighs in the space between the seat and the tank, which made me so furious to start cussing in german.

I've already reproduced so not too worried about my jewels, but i still went for a Wunderlich seat, which does not have significant additional heights on the front, but completely solved the pinching problem (leaves a much narrower gap against the tank). Also, not astonishingly comfortable but noticeably better than any of the BMW seats, in practical terms it moved the butt-pain threshold from 1/1.5 hours to about 3 hours.

The high seat looks like the Sargent "Rally Height" seat which I just got for less than $500.00 shipped.

I don't know where we are... but I have been lost here before...

Thanks, everyone. These are all great suggestions, but don't seem to answer the angle problem (or add that much height). I might try with a custom upgrade to my current seat (not even sure if that's possible) or call sargent and inquire about their custom seat. I'll keep this thread updated (though I see there is a seat thread every few days!).
